Hello Folks, we thought you might want to know about us as persons and not just a place on the internet, especially being a pawn shop.The shop is owned by the two of us, Allen Keith and George Hollis.
Allen is the commander in chief. He does all the shop keeping. In other words, he does the buying and selling and the day to day running of the pawn shop. He is also the one that named the shop. The pawn shop was located on a main intersection corner and we love the King of Kings and so thus the name, Kings Corner Pawn and Gifts.
Allen was born in the Appalachian hills of Harlan county in Kentucky, USA. His family left the mountains and moved to Pulaski county, Ky. and he grew up there. It was there he met and married his lovely wife tracy and after several years had a daughter, Olivia, whom they love and cherish.
He studied music and business and after graduating Allen enlisted in the Army and served four years in the Airborne. He has since worked in mechanical design and drafting, counseling and personal security services guarding high profile clients from around the world.
Allen also spent several years working for a pawn brokerage in the Lexington, Ky. area. It is with this experience that he and I bought the pawn shop in Lexington and moved it to Danville, Ky. and have served that area for seven years now.
Allen loves family life, and hobbies such as shooting, gun collecting and playing the drums.
(And) my name is George Hollis. I grew up in the western part of Kentucky in Union county on the Ohio River. I also met my wife, Delois, in our home county. We have three children and as of December 08 have six grandchildren. I graduated from Murray State University in Kentucky as a geologist and eventually went to work in the coal mines of western Kentucky.
I worked in the coal mines until I started working for the state of Kentucky as a coal mine inspector. I continued with that work until retiring. In the latter years of that work is when we started and opened the pawn shop. I have since established some web sites and am doing online marketing which will include this website for the pawn shop.
My hobbies are very simple in that they include family life and church, (trying) to stay in shape and learning and working on the web sites.
